Greetings!
I finally was able to get a used ECM yesterday. I plugged it in and the check engine light is working. Tried starting the car. Sometimes it appears to catch but does not run. Changed oil and cleaned spark plugs. Tried starting but same problem. The code reader showed zero. Borrowed a Gen-Tech diagnotic tool from a friend and did a live data check. Notice that the Ignition timing advance for #1 spark plug/cyclinder is extremely high(50). My friend had checked his car (ultima) with the tool to show me how to use it before. His reading for ignition tim,ing dadvance for #1 spark plug was pretty low, might have been below 1. Perhaps my timimg is off? What do you think? and how do you go about fixing that? Geoffrey |

Greetings
Decided to recheck voltages at the ECM relay and fuel pump. ECM voltages ok. However, no voltage going to fuel pump. Problem was missing 15 amp fuse. I had taken it out last year during one of my test to prevent the pump from working and flooding the cylinders. Found a replacement fuse. Turned the key and Bingo she started. Now just got to put back everything together. thanks to everyone for they help. One thing I learned from this is that before doing any repair make certain yuou understand how the system works, and ALWAYS remove the negative battery terminal if before you remove the harness from the ECM.
