Default poor mileage '02 Quest

I have an '02 quest with 3.3 ltr. I have installed new plugs, plug wires, air filter, synthetic oil and always watch tire pressure. I get 17 - 18 MPG on a long 3000+ mile trip, 12.045 MPG pulling my 16' Aluminum boat, and about 14 MPG around town. No check engine lights are on and it runs very nice. Any suggestions on where to look next? I keep hearing it should do 20+ on the highway but I can't even get close to that.

I found an article on 1999-2002 Nissan Quest Road Test that states: "... averaged a less-than-frugal 16.9 mpg..." Now, while the "sticker" mileage says 17 City and 23 Highway - you'll never see it!

Hope this helps...

My 1999 quest with over 230,000 miles on it still gets between 20 and 22 mpg on the hwy and 17-19 in town. I use synthetic oil and a K&N filter. I have owned the car since 1999 with 3800 demo miles and have recorded the gas mileage with every tankful. One of the best cars I ever had.

Nissan quest 2000, 113Kmi
[24-:-25]-26(sometimes)MPG -highway.
Used to be 22-23MPG.
Reasons of change:
1.Driving style
2.Tire pressure about 30PSI

Default quest mpg

after fixing my fuel gauge i was shocked to be getting 11mpg..........long story short......... when i disconected battery to clean terminals i did not realize that it would place the ecu computer on re-learning procedure... wich i began to drive as usual with rmps 2000+ .......... mechanic plugged nissan computer to read the engine was at 86% performance..... this was the reason why is was getting such horrible mpg.... after re-setting computer and placing it back at 100% i was told to leave the shop staying at 1000 to 1500 rpms and to go to highway and bring truck to 60 mph with low rpms and keep at 60mph for 15 to 20 minutes.... while computer is re-learning the air/fuel mixture....... so i believe that you have disconected your battery causing your current mpg problem...... i went on a 253 mile trip through mountains and at 70 to 80 mph and was at 20.20 mpg...

get a mechanic to read your performance on your quest..... it should point to the problem....... i also had no signs of problems or service engine light .....the computer simply adjust the engine to perform so you will not notice anything odd..
