Coolant drain & fill
I plan on doing a radiator drain & fill.
I don't have any problem understanding the type antifreeze to use (green) but got into a conversation with a fellow that swears full strength is the way to go. Here in Texas it is not the freezing that is the concern,, but the heat transfer & corrosion issues. Any thoughts? Also I have read that to use "distilled" water to dilute. Seems to be a good idea,,, yes? |

You definately don't want to use straight antifreeze. You need to mix it with water. It should be around 50 % antifreeze and 50 % water. You can vary the mixture a little to achieve different temperature ranges. The antifreeze jug usually has a chart that shows how to mix it for the different temperatures.

R. Crawford - to add to mpe235 post, i did use distilled water to mix with the antifreeze when I changed the coolant in my Olds Intrigue. Not sure if it makes a difference but like you said, it made sense to me and it's readily available at the grocery store.
