$20 a quart for transmission fluid???
I took my 2005 Quest in today for P0420 code. The dealer is going to replace a catalytic converter under warranty(64,000 Miles). I asked the service writer about a transmission service. He said that I needed to have it done at the dealership and it required 12 quarts of $20/qt fluid. Some special Nissan fluid. Is this correct?

mpe235, Thanks for the reply. Although very pleasant to deal with, this fellow now has zero credibility with me. While we are on services, what is your opinion of induction cleaning services a lot of shops offer? My Quest has absolutely no indications of drivability problems. I am, to be quite truthful, thrilled wth how well it runs and drives.
I appreciate you taking the time to assist us concerned owners. Thanks. Jimmy |

Tranny fluid recommendation?
I am going to change out the tranny fluid in the '05 Quest 4 speed 132,000 mi. I was going to use the Nissan Matic D, but the dealer does not stock it. The guy at the desk told me to just use dexron III. I went shopping and found many options. Anyone have any suggestions. Is the basic Penzoil product ok? I was also looking at the Mobil 1 product. Anyone have experience using other products besides Nissan with good or bad results?
Thanks |

I would follow mpe235 recommendation above which confirms that dexron can be used.
