Question 04 Quest with vias solenoid problems

We replaced the bank 1 sensor 1, then the bank 2 sensor 2, as the scanner indicated. Thought all was fine, now the P1800 came up. checked the solenoid and it is in working order. Tested the power wire to the solenoid, and the solenoid is getting power, the ground seems not to work.
Where do I find a short on a ground? Have a short tester but works only on hot or power sides, where the magnetic field is, ground does not. Is there a way or can you create or ground the solenoid elsewhere than the ECM or would that destroy the wiring, ecm or solenoid?
Someone told us to block off the vacuum from the intake, leaving it open, but after clearing the code, within 13 miles the ck eng. lite was back on.
Hate tear apart the wiring harness if there is a simple solution. Cannot figure how it would short out, everything looks good.
Any help is appreciated.

disconnect and reconnect the harness and be sure its snug tight. there are two small vacuum hoses. one goes to the vacuum tank and the other to power valve actuator, hoses could be damage. easy does it, the orifice is plastic and hose stuck to it especially older vehicle. you may end up buying a new solenoid. if you need to replace the hose just cut it clear of the orifice and just slit open of what's left with a blade.

We have removed the solenoid, the vacuum tubes came off easily using an easy trick. The solenoid works, opens and closes. Problem is we tested the hot wire, power in and the solenoid is getting power in but does not ground back to the ecm. Do you think the problem is in the connector or somewhere in the wire in between the connector at the solenoid and the ecm ground pin? The wiring harness is not damaged, van is in good, clean, maintained condition. Runs like a trooper with great gas mileage at 20 to 21 around town, this is the only stubborn problem beyond the normal quest doors, brakes, etc problems and certainly will not pass our emissions test, I am afraid.

yes should have continuity between vias terminal 2 and ecm terminal 29. also btween vias and IPDM connector E122. if wires are good, then either connectors or failed vias solenoid. refer to EC-607 and EC-657.

Will check on that tomorrow and let you know thanks.
If a wire is not getting continuity, is it hard to find where it is? Cannot ground it anywhere else or it would not make the complete circuit, can you put a new wire in? Have a circuit tester but ground has no magnetic field so cannot find the short using it. I know when we tested the power or hot wire it was getting power, we know it is somewhere with the ground. The solenoid works, we tested it in another car and it works fine.

its the Y/G wire going to ecm 29. if harness is still wrapped i would visual the exposed part first.

We checked the wires, the power side is fine. The ground to pin 29 gets gets a little continuity, that is it beeps then stops, and there is resistance. We probed the wire into the ecm connector, right at the connector entry, we get perfect continuity. It is only at pin 29 that we are not getting what we should.
How in the world do we fix this problem, not the ecm obviously, vias works fine, power is okay, just the ground problem. Will not pass emissions with the p1800 code that pops up. Does not pop up readily but holds that code or shows it pending. If it is the connector what do you do? Cannot find one and how if we did can you replace it? thanks
