BAD smell!
My Nissan truck(1997 with 160,000 miles) has developed a bad exhaust smells like rotten eggs. After searching this site, the only clue I have found is the catalytic converter is the problem. Is it going bad? Could it be the type of gas I am using(regular, cheap stuff)? I recently tuned it up and gas mileage is running above average. Thanks for any input!!

If you might think the cats are going south find a tech that can perform a cat efficiency test along with checking the 02 sensors.

Change brands of gasoline! This sometimes happens to vehicles; a given brand can cause issues. It is worth trying. Run down to a 1/4 tanks and fill with 89 octane from a brand name station like Shell or BP. See what happens. You can also add some upper cylinder lube like Lucas.
Also, make sure air filter is clean and free flowing and that any PCV equipment is functioniong. |

It's time for super catman... But seriously fokes the most common cause of rotten eggs smell is an over rich fuel conditions,bad/faulty plugs, incorrect timing ect.And allowed to run this way will destroy the cats. There, no slight of hand tricks just the facts. Now it's back to the CATCAVE...
