Crankshaft Position Sensor Replace?

Ok, I downloaded the Engine mechanical service info. pdf and it won't open for me. I have a check engine light(cant remember the code) but it states:
"Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit". I have a new sensor and I am looking for instructions/procedure to replace this part. I understand it is on the back side of the motor between the motor and the firewall. How do i get to this? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance:).

Do you recall if it was a 0335 or 0340?

kamkahpaks 11-11-2007 09:24 PM

it must have been 0335 cause the trouble code was for the crankshaft position sensor. 0340 is a camshaft p.s. related code.

Until a Specialist replies...I pulled this from your Service Manual Section EC - Engine Control System.

Hope this helps...

That sensor is very difficult to reach..the hardest part is accessing the bolt that hold the metal "stay" for this part....You can actually see it from underneath the left side of the Trany...If you have very small hands, you can get to the bolt from the left side of the engine, basically behind the exhaust manifold and down a bit...

replaced the crankshaft sensor and now it will not start all it does is turn over. also has code of 0325 knock sensor , 0731 gear i ratio incorrect what is the 0731

sounds like you may have knocked off one of the connectors going to the trans. code is for a/t 1st signal. Check and make sure you didn't disconnect a connector or pinch a wire going to the trans.

ERIKMASTERCRAFT 08-13-2008 11:41 AM

it will crank up in the mornings and run for about 10 min. then it will not start the rest of the day untill the next morning.

Same Damn problem. Car shot off on freeway, barely made it off, then all lights came on check engine, Cam shaft pos sensor, What the heck is nissans problem? that is VERY unsafe to just be shut off from all power. They need to recall all these sensors.
