Intro and first question

My name is Joe, I'm a 60 year old father of 9, so I have always driven and repaired used cars. When I had a big family, I anticipated, doctor bills and braces but didn't think that my kids would all grow up to drive used cars too and I would become their default and free mechanic, which leads me to my first question.

My youngest daughter just just bought a 2004 Altima with the 2.5 engine. It ran great during the test drive and the next day but after my daughter filled up the tank it began to be hard to crank and eventually left her stranded when it would not crank. I got it cranked with a shot of starter fluid and drove it home. I didn't have time to fool with it for a day or two and when I tried it, it fired right up. It cranks more often than not but I don't want my young daughter out in an unreliable car. Once it cranks, it never goes dead, but just wondering if anyone had suggestions on where to start. I'll probably check the fuel pressure, but haven't found a test port yet. My wife got online and said Altima's have a history of starting issues so any infomation any of you could give me would be apprecated.

Thanks, joe
