2002 pathfinder ticking noise

My 2002 pathfinder just recently started a ticking noise from it's top end.It sounds like the lifters .There is no check engine light .The oil was down to the low level on the dipstick and I topped it up (1/2 quart) with no improvement .Any thoughts or tips...Thanks .

Have you been burning "regular" fuel in your Pathy? Premium fuel is recommended for a few reasons. One being the cleaning agents premium fuel contains. I have heard that "deposits" can build up on valves and lifters etc. That may be causing ticking you hear. Run a few tanks of premium through it and see waht happens.

I know this is 9 years old.. but I'm having the same trouble now and I need help. Did you ever find the cause of the problem? what was the fix? Heres my thread on the issue:
