1997 Quest Misfire problem

I have a 97 nissan quest with a 3.0L motor...I have a random cylinder misfire that occurs when cruising at around 45mph at 1500rpm's.. at wide open throttle the motor looses all power and acts like it hits a rev limiter at 4500rpm's ( it is strong up to that point) altho you can rev the motor past that point in neutral but not at WOT, at WOT it stopps at about 5K RPM's. I have replaced all 6 injectors, knock sensor, fuel pump, timing belt, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, mass airflow sensor, distributor, ignition coil, pcv valve and tested the EGR valve and there has been no improvement...

When I brought it to the local Nissan dealer said that it is leaning out and when they adjusted the air/fuel ratio it ran great but they don't know what is causing this..the only code that is on the computer is a multiple cylinder misfire.

I inspected all vacume lines and could not find a leak.. Please Help!!

Make sure the timing is set correct, clear the codes, take it on 5 two mile drives and you will notice it will get better with each drive ( for a total of 10 miles ). Also check for codes after the ten miles.

The Same Problem (My 97 Nissan Quest)

I got exactly the same problem. My 97 Quest XE has about 87k miles. Initially it had P0120 P0325 P1705 codes. After I cleaned MAF/Throttle and replaced spark plugs/wires, all the above codes went away. But P0300 (random misfire) came up. Nissan dealer wanted to replace all the injectors which I didn't do since I could trust their diagnosis. I went ahead and replaced the whole distributor and TPS sensor. Then P0300 disappeared, but P0306 surfaced. I had an independent shop replaced injector #6. P0306 is gone but P0302 appeared. The shop went ahead and cleaned all three front injectors. But I am still getting CEL. (I am tired of checking the codes now)

One thing I did notice is the timing has not been very stable. It bounces from 3 to 20 during idling. The service manual does say it should be 15 (+/-2). I am not sure whether the misfire is affecting the timing or the timing is causing the misfire.

Quest or Villager owners, please help!
