Post P1706 - PNP Switch

This is the second time that my service engine soon light came on with this type of error.

I had it "fixed" before at a local mechanic shop and they told me that my ECU is malfunctioning, as they do not know the problem. They said that the PNP switch is new and there is somewhat a voltage problem. They were telling me to replace the ECU which I found absurd as it is expensive. So, I had them put back all of the wirings and guess what, no more engine light. I am thinking that they have accidentally fixed the problem and they did not bother to tell me about it.

My best guess is that the harness for the PNP switch is coming off loose or the switch itself. Any ideas on this?

I went to AutoZone to check for the switch, it costs $93.

Does anyone know the part number of the PNP switch and where can I get them for a lesser price?
Thank you.

Thanks for your replies!

I have searched through the internet and saw two items with different part numbers, and they were cheaper too.
I have downloaded the file and it is very informative! Thanks a lot!

I just got back home and I noticed something. Whenever the engine is running (idle) or the key is in the "ON" position, stepping on the brakes produces a "clicking" sound from the shifter when it is on the P (park) position, only heard on this position. Any thoughts?

Thanks!
