Default Trouble changing headlight bulb

Hello all:

Just bought a 1998 Pathfinder Chilkoot. First problem I'm having is trying to change the headlight bulb.

I have search the forums here, read a ton of posts, even found the attached image, which shows how the bulb comes out of the headlamp reflector.

Ok - I can twist the round locking mechanism and get the bulb out of the reflector. No problem.

However, I can't get the bulb off of the harness connector. Theres a little plastic grip place that says push - and the diagram says push to remove - but dang ! There's a trick of some kind. I've pushed inwards, and down, and every way. And I've tried twisting the bulb assembly left and I've tried pulling it straight out. No dice.

What I would like to know, is HOW is it supposed to come out? Does the bulb come straight out of the harness connector, or does it twist lock into the connector? Is that little push tab supposed to be pushed inwards, or downwards? If I know how it is supposed to come out, then I can at least twist and wriggle it more forcefully with a little more confidence that I'm not going to break it.

It is killing me that something so simple is so, well, not simple.

Thanks for any help.
Bill

get a screwdriver and push in the middle and try to pull at the same time they can be a pain but keep at it. u should see the tab, push down on it and it should pull. try to pull on the top part too where the tab is hoolding on too not too much forve or it will brake it

Thanks for the post sergey85. I found the trick. Rather than pushing where it says push, I just got the screwdriver right where it latches on. Lifted carefully, and then it popped out.

As thought, it's just knowing the trick. Got the new bulbs in and what a difference. Much much better.

maybe pulling the bulb first would make it easier to disconnect from the wires.
