Default hmmm...4x4 problem

just got a 93 pathfinder, manual tranny....
a: the linkage from range selector is broken at the last linkage going into the transfer case....just where they connect..... no brainer to fix that...
b: while i was discovering this i turned the driveshaft going to the front and it went around about 1-1 1/2 times before coming to a stop....i dont think this is normal
c: i tried to moved the linkage connector where it goes into the transfer case and there was no movement whatsoever...
everything else as far as shifting and driving seems normal, just there is no 4wd.....i am assuming that it is in 2h position....how can i test it before revconnecting the linkage, or does this indicate a time to panic over a big repair job.....any comments or help would be appreciated....oh....consulted the haynes/chiltons....not much help there at all....

completely lift the truck onto 4 stands and run it.. if just the two rear wheels turn then you're in 2h. i can't recall the linkage thing in the transfer case but that stick tends to be a bit harder to shift anyway. i'd say, use some anti rust stuff for a few days on it and see if it helps.

the propeller shaft ought not be turning 1 or more turns.. maybe 1/4 or a 1/3. i'd at least check fluid in the rear diff.
