When compared to Lexus...
NOW THAT I GOT EVERYONE'S ATTENTION...
I have been a Lexus Service consultant/employee for over 6 years now. I recently bought an old 2000 Nissan Pathfinder (2WD/Auto/SE I beleive) trade in. I have a few questions about the vehicle. After working at Lexus so long, as soon as I hear a customer start talking, I know exactly what they are going to say. My engine lags, or this makes a grinding noise, etc.. you get the picture! Now down to business... I have a few questions so if you know anything, please let me know!
1) There is an obnoxious rattle from the rear that sounds like the rear hatch is going to fall off. This noise is most noticable when going over uneven pavment. Is there a known repair/tighten this or adjust that to help with this concern. I just saw the bulletin for repair but I could not follow where to locate the correction and possible warranty extension?
2) Just more of a FYI question... The windows all seem to be VERY slow up and down. Normal?
3) The vehicle has trouble shifting into overdrive. It hits overdrive everytime but if I let off and push the gas again, it feels like the motor mounts are shot and feels like a tranny/motor mount issue. The fluid seems full and clean, however I am not sure if the previous owner flushed the fluid to correct concern. After obviously not getting better since flush, maybe they traded it in after this concern? It is a 2000, however has only 84000 miles on it. (MOST IMPORTANT CONCERN FOR NOW)
4) I believe this belt has a timing belt. As it is getting closer, is there anything else to replace with the belt. I am sure the coolant and water pump need to be replaced, however I have heard I should go ahead and replace the plugs and knock sensors before I drive it too much longer.
5) I have installed a K&N air filter (filter only in factory airbox) just because I prefer those filters. Is there any other ideas to enhance fuel economy or any other Nissan secrets about this vehicle it would be helpful to know?
Please let me know if anybody has any ideas. I know this is alot to respond to but any help is appreciated! Also, I like to think I am Lexus Savy if anybody needs any help/suggestions on there Lexus vehicles.
