Question radio problems

last week i went on a wheeling vacation to WV.. couple of hours from home the radio fizzled to just "fuzz." sometimes when i start the truck the radio will play for a few seconds and then it fizzles out once again.. the radio, tape deck nor cds will play although they are all working from what i can tell.. all fuses are ok..

any ideas would be appreciated as i am not on top of electrical stuff in general.

thanks

94 pathfinder with stock radio and an aftermarket cd changer (sony)

Sounds like you may just have a bad radio. The cost of replacing it with another factory radio is not worth it. You can get a good deal at www.crutchfield.com

stock amps are kind of known to fry out but i have no clue if/how one could test those. if you do let me know. thanks

I'm looking at the service manual but I don't see anything about testing the amp.

not sure what system it is. the original speakers were clarions. i'lll have to go out and look. i'll edit my post when i do..

does the service manual have good wireing diagrams for these components? i have one somewhere on a disc but will have to look for it.. kind of thinking i may try to bypass the amps and see if that makes a difference.. if not then i may put in the other deck and see if that helps.. hate not having tunes and news.. grrrr.. i may get to it later this week. thanks for your input guys.

i see. well when the rain stops let me know whathe face plate says. if not bose there is wiring info in the el section and may possibly be some trouble diag. but i am like mpe235 i do not think therewill be any test info on the base system amps. the only other thing i can think of is using an ocilloscope to lok and the signal to the amp from th radio and leaving the amp to the speakers.

not likely to be bose if it doesn't say it on the face plate. in fact I don't think they offered it in that model.
