Default 2001 Pathfinder can sensor replacement

Hi, I'm new.

The title should read "2001 Pathfinder cam sensor replacement." Apparently there's no provision for editing the title of a post...

Anyway, I'm throwing a P1145 code (Carista) and having ongoing roughness. The thing I see mentioned most often as a cause in my research is the cam sensor(s).

Accordingly, I bought two AIP Electronics replacements from Amazon, intending to replace both cam sensors. They both look like the attached picture, and had good reviews on the product page. The page also included an assurance that they would fit my car.

I have two questions, and hope they can be answered by someone who has performed this change:

1) The electrical connector socket is rotated 90 degrees from that on the OEM (I assume it's OEM) part. Will I have any problem with this?

2) The sensor on the driver's side (US) is installed parallel to the camshaft, whereas the one on the passenger side appears to be installed at a high angle to the camshaft. Please see attached photos. Am I interpreting this location and orientation correctly?

Many thanks in advance!

Don't confuse camshaft position sensors with intake valve timing position sensors; they have both. P1145 is for the intake timing position sensor on the driver's side, or left bank. What you have pictured is an intake valve timing position sensor. Intake valve timing position sensors have 3 pins and cam position sensors have two. On the left bank, you will find it on the back side of the rear timing cover. Other causes for this code can include low or dirty engine oil, a faulty crank position sensor, open or shorted circuit(s) or a faulty intake valve timing control solenoid valve.

Sorry for the late reply (bout of food poisoning), and thanks for the reply.

We changed the cam sensors, and the #6 coil pack. P1145 and P0306 code went away, but has been replaced by a P1320 code. Seems to run smoother, though. Have decided to drive it a couple of days, pull codes again.

P1320 is usually set by a bad coil (stick with genuine Nissan coil packs) or a bad coil pack harness connector (wiringspecialties.com sells repair pigtails). That's not to say other things cannot cause that code to trigger, but those are the two most common culprits.
