front bearing replacement
Hi all,
2004 Pathfinder 4x4: I need to replace the front bearings due to some grind going on in the front left hub. My issue is the hub cover. After removing the 6 bolts for the hub cover, the cover is not coming off, which I believe should expose the snap ring and the lock-nut holding the hub on. Is this typical and just needs a bit of brute force or some taps with a rubber mallet to break it free or am I just missing something? Thanks - Justin Last edited by Witeagle; 10-27-2007 at 06:25 PM. I usually use a hammer and a punch. It has enough of a lip on it that you can put the punch against it and tap on it. Once you break if free it should just slide off.

How do you get the Wheel Bearing Lock Nut off?

There are two very small phillps head screws that you need to remove.Once done take a small pic or screwdriver and rotate the preload tention ring counter clockwise to remove.
