VIN Confusion
Guys,
I'm confused about my VIN. Here's the first 11 digits: JN8DR09Y51W According to our vin decoder, I have a body type classified as 9, and a 'Y' for under miscellaneous category. There nothing on type 9 body? What is the Y represent? Thanks! |

I checked the service manual for the 2001 pathfinder and "9" is not and option. The only options is "7" and "8". It's probably and "8" that looks like "9".
"Y" represents: 4 Wheel Drive (4WD) - 4-Wheel ABS You can find more information here: Nissan Vehicle Identification Number VIN Decoder | Nissanhelp.com The list is not finish, but we are working on it.

It's a 9!
Nissan Tech, Thank you for your speedy response!
But it's a 9 I tell ya ;) Well, the body type is what it is... an SUV, but I'm just surprised it's not in Nissan's options in the GI section of the manual. |

It's a 9 alright, may be your pathfinder is from another country.

According to the VIN, it's supposed to be made in Japan, Maybe parallel imported from another country.
Dang! I actually bought it brand new from a supposedly reputable Nissan dealer. ;) Oh well, it's what it is. I still love my pathfinder!!! ;) |
