Default 2001 Pathfinder wont start P1610, 1612

My Pathfinder wont start, i'm getting codes P1610 & P1612. I understand this has to do with the factory security system.

What's my first step with this problem before I take it to the stealership?

Thanks,
Christina.

The ECM is not receiving the correct code from the key, you either try to start the engine with a key that was not programed to the vehicle or the key is bad.

If you have another key, you may try disconnecting the car battery for about 30 minutes, reconnect and then try to start the vehicle with your other key.

Thanks for replying, I've been checking every 10 mins....

I only have one key. I had a friend from School try a few things, (disconnect the battery, go thru the sequence in the owners manual).

I went ahead and ordered 2 ebay keys and I guess i'll have to have it towed to the dealership for programming. Being on a college budget doesn't help, hope it's not too much to program.

Thanks.
