Default Similar problem and solution on Dodge Intrepid

I had a similar problem (blinking oil light) on a 1999 Dodge Intrepid with a 2.7 Liter 4 cylinder engine. To make a long story short (lots of internet chatter and many similar try's to fix....I do not recall if there were oil pressure anomalies, but there were numerous theories concerning sludge) Dodge saved the day..... they came out with a change to the wiring harness at the plug connecting the Oil Sending Unit. The blinking light was caused be a wire in the harness not connected to anything. This solved the problem.

Is anyone aware of whether Nissan has a service bulletin on this topic?

He back tracked it to the main bearing rubbing ... I routinely changed the oil (3K - 6K miles); maintained the vehicle; no heavy towing ... Has anyone else taken the oil pan off and discovered anything?

I HAVE reached out to Nissan to ask for "GOOD WILL" help in repairing the vehicle (long shot but, worth the try since I have metal shaving in the pan) ... I am going through the process now ...

Does anyone think the following recall on the Nissan vehicles related to ECM relay would cause this issue with the low pressure?
Recall Summary: Nissan is recalling certain model year 2004-2006 armada, titan, infiniti QX56 and model year 2005-2006 frontier, Pathfinder and xterra vehicles. The intelligent power distribution module (ipdm) assembly contains an engine control module (ECM) relay that has a diode for electrical current noise reduction. The ECM relay may allow silicon vapor to form and, over time, the silicon evaporates from the diode molding which causes silicon oxide to develop on the ECM relay contact due to arcing.
2005 pathfinder 50k on engine - metal shaving in engine. have to buy a rebuilt engine. Currently being worked on. Seems to be pretty common and Nissan does not want to own up. Called Corp and they did not get a crap about it.

Default 2005 pathfinder 50K metal shaving in engine.

Update - Old engine failure was due to low oil pressure at #5 Rod beading. $6500.00 later now fixed but for how long? Will never buy Nissan again. Can't wait to get rid of!

With the same low pressure at idle issue, I found myself on this page initially, and during my search, found this: https://www.motor.com/wp-content/upl...RVICE_0116.pdf
I thought it might be helpful to those who search for this issue in the future.

Thanks for the link! I was aware of the rear cover problems but never had to do one or have seen what the back of the cover looks like.

Bringing this topic back. I'm taking my 05 frontier 4.0 in for the timing chain tensioner repair. While they have it all apart they are going to replace the inner timing chain cover. My truck is showing the exact symptoms of the failed gasket. Low oil pressure at idle. Will update when repair is complete and after I put a few miles on it.

This thread is what helped me find the possible cause of the low oil pressure. Timing couldn't have been better finding it seeing as the truck was scheduled to go in for the timing chain replacement. Saved me a ton of money on labor by doing both at the same time.

Thanks

Inner timing chain cover replacement didn't fix oil pressure problem. New timing chain and tensioners fixed the whirring sound caused by worn tensioners though.

Both. The only time I see it not near dead center of the range is when it is just started on a cold day, in which case the needle will sit around the 3/4 range on the gauge.
