Default Dash Disassembly

The CD function in my wife's Murano has gone to hell... it's sounds all distorted and has a fair amount of static in it. Playing the radio itself is fine though - no issues.

I wanted to see if anyone had instructions, preferrably with pictures but i'll take what I can get, as to how to disassemble the dash, IF NECESSARY, to remove the factory CD player. It's a Bose 6 disk changer setup...

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!

to Nissanhelp.com forums!!

I Hope this help:

1. Perform damper lock operation. (BOSE system)
a. Eject and remove any CDs from the CD auto-changer unit.
b. Turn ignition switch OFF. Wait until CD auto-changer unit display is off and mechanism stops moving (mechanism sound stops).
c. Press any one of the disc selection buttons once. When a display shows on the CD auto-changer unit, press the same disc selection button again within 5 seconds.
The changer mechanism will lock itself within 10 seconds.
d. After mechanism stops moving (mechanism sound stops), disconnect negative battery cable.

2. Remove center ventilator. (see figure #1)
a. Insert a remover into lower space of center ventilator and remove by lifting.
b. Insert a remover into upper space of center ventilator and the upper clip is removed.

3. Remove instrument stay cover (LH/RH). (see figure #2)
a. Insert a remover into front space of instrument stay cover (LH/RH) and detach.
b. Disconnect the LH side harness connector only.

4. Remove screws on top of the radio (2 screws). (see figure #3)

5. Remove screws on the side of the radio (4 screws). (see figure #4)

6. Remove cluster lid C and audio unit.

7. Unlock FPC (Flexible Print Circuit) connector lock on A/C and AV switch side. (see figure #5)

8. Pull off flexible printed circuit from connector.

9. Remove screws (4) and clips (2). Then remove audio unit from cluster lid C. (see figure #6)

10. Remove audio unit screws (8), unified meter and A/C amp. screws (2) and remove bracket. (see figure #7)

When removing the radio from the murano it is a good idea to put a rag or towel over the shifter assembly. It is very easy to scratch the plastic finishers when pulling the radio out.

Default Wowsa - Thanks!

NissanTech:

Many thanks for the welcome :)

The directions absolutely rock (even if they are a bit scary to think about trying to do/follow). A couple more questions though if you dont mind:

1. I dont have that removal tool though so do you know where I can get one and for how much?
2. What exactly does the damper lock operation do? What's it good for?
3. Since it's only the CD player that is acting strange, do you think it's the laser or something that has gone down the toilet?

I guess i'm probably still going to have to go pay the $4 bajillion for new headunit after this is all said and done... grrrrr.... :censored:

Use a flat screw driver

Locks the changer mechanism to avoid damage during transportation

Most likely is something else.

Before you buy the Radio unit for $5 trillion, have you check you options? like sending the unit for repair or getting a used unit.

Here is placed where you can send the radio for repair:

BTW check how much they charge for removal instructions :)

I purchased a repaired Maxima Bose system and had a my Altima radio repaired on ebay by a seller named XW1600. He also purchased my old bose radio. He might be able to save you some money
good luck
