Is your extended warranty a Nissan extended warranty?

You could have purchased the nissan warranty for that price. I have seen too many aftermarket warranties screw the customers. They will find any reason they can to not cover parts. Also I have seen alot of them go out of business and leave the customers paying for repairs even after they paid for the warranty. My advise, no matter what kind of car you have, but the factory extended warranty.
How many miles are on your murano? If it is less than 36k the factory warranty should cover the seat.

I have 50,000 miles so my original warranty is over. Guess maybe I should think about trading this car in. I'm furious with the dealership(I bought this car new) for selling me this warranty and at Nissan for not standing behind their product!

Have you ever used the extended warranty?
On some you can cancel them and get some of your money back if you never used them.

Laurie,
I feel your pain. I, too, am having problems with my driver seat. I took it into my dealership multiple times (only one of which was documented) while the car was under warranty for the seat problems. Now that I have 50,000 miles on it, the power seat has failed. The right side is fixed on the track, while the left side still moves. I have made 20+ calls to the dealership and Nissan. A goodwill request was denied, but the regional specialist wasn't informed by my servicing dealership that I had it in multiple times under warranty. Now the dealership wants $850 for the parts and labor (they offered to discount to $680, big deal!). In surfing the internet, I have found hundreds of posts by people with repeated problems with the driver seat rocking and slipping at stop signs. This is how mine began, and I should have been more adamant that the track be replaced before the warranty expired. I also found the same TSB by the NHTSA that you mentioned stating an issue with the Murano driver seat. When I called regarding this I was told that because it is not a recall the owner is responsible for repair. It is unfortunate that Nissan is willing to lose a loyal customer over $800. Nissan needs to step-up to the plate on this issue and help its owners out. This is our fifth Nissan, and if this problem doesn't get resolved it will be our last. Dan |

I have seen a bunch of these broken seats come through the shop. I am surprised that this has not become a recall. In a collision from the rear it seems like the seat track could break and dump you into the back seat. A scary situation if your car is still in gear and moving and you are now in the back seat and unable to reach the steering wheel.

Where did you get that quote to fix your seat? The dealer? My dealer is giving me a "reduced" quote for parts and labor of $680. Was that for a used track? I can't find any salvage yards with a used one in my area. Thanks, Dan |

The car seat is still broke after 3 services. Yesterday I was told it would cost over $1000 to fix!!! I have been a strong and loyal Nissan customer but if I don't get some satisfaction from Nissan of North America I am trading this car in. I looked all over the internet for parts and can't find anything. At $1000 I think I should get a whole new drivers seat not just the cushion and track. And I don't know why, if this is a known problem, and worse yet a safety issue why Nissan isn't addressing it by a recall.

I'm a victim as well. My driver side seat rocked from side-to-side. I have the Nissan Gold Preferred warranty, and at 43K miles, I was told that this was actually NOT COVERED! They did a goodwill adjustment and I paid $200 to get it fixed - and it is actually fixed and working. They said the actual seat frame was broken. It was a three hour job to pull the seat, disassemble, and then rebuild the frame and put everything back together. It was a situation I simply had to fix, because everytime I turned left, I almost fell over the console into the passenger seat.

Two days ago, my driver's seat broke in the same manner. It seems to be anchored on the right side but comes loose from the left rear, allowing rocking when taking turns. This car has 41K miles, so I guess I'm hosed on any warranty claim. I agree that this seems like a major safety issue, as it could affect a driver's control of the steering wheel, pedals, etc. I read elsewhere on the web that a complaint could be filed at NHTSA's web site. If they get enough of these complaints, perhaps a recall will be issued by Nissan. Til then, I guess I will be the only middle-aged white guy I know doing the "gangster lean" against my driver's door! :)

I heard about the breaking of the driver seat, it just happened to me on my 2005 Nissan Murano 37.000 miles.
First the seat would be lose like excessive movement for some time, then all of the sudden it will eventually break. I am about 250 ponds and that dose not seam to be excessive enough to break the back bottom cross bar under the drivers seat. (I'm sure this is a expensive repair) This was very dangerous and scary for someone who is unsuspecting of this issue. I see that many others have experience this problem as well. shouldn't a class action be on the way, Any lawyers available? Other information about this topic can be found at Nissan Murano Recall Information - CarSpace Automotive Forums Who and how much is Nissan paying to keep this undercover ? You could also make a complant at the WWW.NHTSA.GOV have your vin# and other information ready. Please don't just talk about this issue, lets do somthing about it. Thanks for reading. Because I was quoted $1000 to have the drivers seat fixed I figured I'd first have my husband look at it. I put the seat all the way back and tilted the seat back. Tightened up all the screws and I'm good to go! Now I have a big problem with my sevice department. If they looked at this and they say they did, how in the world did they come up with a estimate of $1000?
