I had the same problem. I have a Nissan extended warranty, and for some reason I was told the warranty did not cover it (extended - if I was still in the 3/36, supposedly it would have). The dealer DID get me approved for a goodwill credit and I had to pay $200 to fix. It is an obvious flaw. I noticed the problems when I turned a corner and the left side of my seat lifted up in the air. The problem was fixed and I'm going on two years now with no additional problems - but the fix takes HOURS to complete. They completely remove the seat and disassemble the frame to get the new parts in.

Interesting. I just purchased an '06 Murano SL AWD on Saturday. The driver's lumbar support wasn't working but I also noticed something odd while test-driving the vehicle - the seat seemed to be loose and had a bit of a rocking motion to it that was obvious on acceleration and braking. I assumed something just needed tightened and the salesman said he hadn't noticed anything wrong but that they would fix it. It's currently back at the dealership and they are supposed to fix 'whatever' is causing the seat to be loose. I would be stunned to find out that the problem is something other than what has been described here, and also to find that the dealership did not know about this problem before they sold the car to me. The vehicle has just over 35k miles and we purchased the extended 'wrap' warranty which I was told covered 'everything but wear items.' Can't wait for the call from the dealership tomorrow telling me everything is fixed....

As a side note, has anything come of the complaints made to either Nissan or other agencies? I will repost when I learn more from the dealership.

Default Defective Seat Rails on 2005 Murano

The seat rails on my 2005 Murano broke a few months ago and the dealer said it would cost over $1,100 to repair it. I ended up getting another auto repair to weld the seat rails (that were broken in 2 places) back together. That cost almost $500. Just today it broke again and I am seething. I have filed a complaint with NHTSA for whatever good that will do. I'm guessing not much looking at other posts on the forum. Does someone actually have to be maimed or die before this gets any attention? Every time I turn a corner now I wonder if the seat's going to stay on at all.

It was already investigated by the office of defects investigation and they determined a recall wasn't necessary. The case has been closed for quite some time.

I have a frame that I just took out of a murano for a stripped gear that you could swap off of your seat. I will send it to you for $100.00 shipping included. The frame is still good. I can e-mail you pictures if you would like. Just pm me your e-mail address.

Default I just filed my complaint

It is ridiculous that Nissan has not stepped forward and offered entirely new seats for any murano owner who has had problems.

I am meeting with the service manager at my local Nissan Dealership {Morrey} to outline the many problems I have had with my murano in the hopes that I get a 'good will' repair on the seat. Barring that, I will be attempting to repair it myself.

The break in my seat is the result of a stupid design. I am a shop teacher who works with metal and this part is about 3/32 thick and no more than 1 inch across and it is supposed to support any manner of human being. It is designed to fail and the Nissan engineers should be ashamed of themselves.
