Laurie;
Why not just ask the dealer outright just exactly how they came up with that number? A thousand bucks to fix a seat is a bit steep. Maybe there is a Nissan dealer or service mgr. looking at these posts. If there is, chime in and give us your thoughts and reasons. |

$1000.00 is a little expensive for the repair. The seat track runs about $650.00. Add labor to that probably about 2.5 hours ( about $200.00) and you start getting closer. My guess would be that they didn't charge you a diag. fee to look at the seat. It is a common problem so they probably just quoted whatever the last 4 or 5 murano seat repairs cost.

I believe that everyone knows how bias some businesses are to women.
I would let my wife get prices quotes on different items and then I would go for the same items and get it for sometimes 30 to 40% cheaper. Let's be real here, to some suspecting mechanic shops, as will as car dealers woman are very vulnerable. |

I will be asking the service manager at my dealership why I was quoted $1000. I have always really liked the quality of service I have received from them until recently. They did look at the seat before quoting me the price and I was charged the diagnostic charge for it.
Maybe it's my imagination but since they have not been able to fix my airbag system after approximately 14 tries, I get the feeling that now they look at me as a problem customer. But I look at me, as someone finally able to afford a new car for the first time in my life and after spending a really rather large amount of money, I believe the car should work the way it was designed to work. Who knows. Maybe Nissan doesn't care about return business. |

Larure, look at the world news, with businesses in America losing profits, stock is down, and this country beings close to a recession I believe that your business is important to your dealer as well as Nissan.
I would try going to another Nissan service center in your area, wright a letter to Nissan about the service and your specific incident that took place, direct it to the top, believe it or not they take time to read a hard copy letter from customers because you took the time to write, stamp and send it to them, more work than email but usually more effective. ( CC a copy to the better business burial) Also let the new service center know that you would go to the extreme to receive the service that you deserve. It's a shame that things are like that sometimes, but you have to sometimes be persistent for fair and proper treatment as well...most of the time its the squeaky wheel that usually get the oil. |

bbb? dealerships have strict rules that must be followed determined by the manufacturer. if its not covered under manufacturers warranty policy theres no need to drag a independent dealership down the toilet for following procedures and polices. |

Hi,
Reading a lot about Murano's driver seat problems. It happened to my 2004 Murano right now as well. The track on the righthand side of driver seat did not work anymore. So I went to get it diagnosed and it turns out that there is a plastic gear drives the shaft back and forth were worn out !!! I did not know why such a critical gear drive is made of plastic !!?? It is such a "weakest link" of the track system ! Now the seat stays where it is, luckily for me is ok to drive the car. Does anyone know where to get the spare parts? From Nissan, or part suppliers? Thanks. Quote:

Hello Stockguy38.
More than likely, you are at the mercy of NISSAN parts for that particular seat device. If you could possibly try a Murano at a car demolishing place or Ebay car part sales location you may get lucky. The Murano been out I believe since 2003 so you may be able to find used parts for them now. Good luck. Peace & blessings. |

Agreed, but do you think that some dealers capitalizes off of situations such as this as well? (some overcharge for work as well as partsin there service departments.)(find other repairs that needs to be done) If you swing enough at the attackers you are going to eventually get in a good one. (Bottom line, It's all about dollars and cents ''more than often'', the public loses) Bigger fish swallows littler fish. Example, we all lose except for the billion dollar profits made by the oil executives,(the bigger fish) look at the gas prices ....Lol is all you can do and bring out the boxing gloves, cut back on gas use.Buy the way, my 2009 murano SL AWD is only getting 15 mpg city it's rated at 18 mpg (smells a little fishy to me) Lol.

I have fixed both of the problems described above. I made a gear to replace the nylon gear that strips out. I have taken the seat apart and welded the broken bracket. I charged my customers $350 for parts and labor. They have all been pleased. I can get gears. I can tell you how to weld seat bracket if you can find someone willing to do it. You live near Cincy Ohio I will do it for you.

Just took mine to the dealer for broken seat frame (drivers side).
Special order frame $700, Labor $180. Seems like there are way too many breaking and the metal on the frame seems very thin. That's here in Cincy. If it happens again I'd contact 'Skippy...' Thanks for the info in the other posts! Greg 2006 Murano s awd |

Just found this site and thought I would reply, though be it late.
I had my driver's side seat (2005 Murano) to break free from the right side track earlier this year. So each time I turned to the right my seat would lean to the left. After taking it to my dealer (i also have extended 100k warranty/60k miles on the car), they informed me that it was not covered under either warranties. I then took it to the regional customer service and asked them to intervene. They came back with the same answer. I asked to speak to the Regional Service Manage who had made the decision and was told that there was no one else to talk to. I then went to the Nissan website and found who the top execs were out of Atlanta and sent them a nicely worded email indicating that this is not a "wear" issue, and that it also posing a safety issue. Within a day I received a call from Nissan corporate who looked into the issue and completely replaced the track at no charge. I was told that the dealer had entered the wrong part numbers into the computer when looking to see if that was covered my the warranty. |

I just went thru the parts book and the price for the track assy. is 522.56 + s/h. From what i can see you cannot order just the lower track. To the person who was quoted 688.00 i would take it unless you feel like its something you can do yourself. It's really a pain to change one out and would take someone who has never done this before several hours to accomplish. I know this is something you didn't want to hear and i feel yuor pain.I agree that nissan should fix this problem.Lets hope enough people raise hell and something gets done.

Today, my seat collapsed whist driving. I have taken it to my Nissan dealer and await their response. However, having looked around similar sites it would appear this is a common problem. Nissan seriously need to investigate this problem as it could cause a serious accident if it was to occur whilst travelling at speed.
