2003 Murano water pump replacment

Hi all, I'm new here and to the Murano. I bought one for my GF and the waterpump (I think) is bad. It started leaking cooland from above the alternator then the heat stopped working and it started running warmer than usual and it was making a bad bearing kind of noise from the front of the engine. I assume all of this leds to the bad water pump. I looked for the repair procedures in the downloadable service manual section but have not found it yet. A shop quoted me $680 with parts and labor.... ouch! I bought a new pump and T-stat and I am ready to change it. Any tips or tricks to make this go smooth. I am a hobby mechanic with 25+ years of wrenching under my belt but never seen a water pump like this one.

The instruction to replaced the water pump are in the "Engine Cooling System" section of the service manual page 20. You can download the section free from here: Knowledgebase - 2003 Murano - Nissanhelp.com Forums

You will probably need to download the "Engine Mechanical" section as well.

Hi there. I had the same issue with coolant leaking from top from the alternator and near a blind threaded hole . The problem was the water pump.
I replace it following the service manual procedure . 5hrs to complete the job.
235,000 miles last the old pump . I replace the pump with nissan original part.
