Default Cabin Air Filter

How do you change/replace the cabin air filter on the 2009 Murano? The dealer is charging me almost $100 for it.

On my other cars, it's easy on how to get to the cabin air filter to replace it. But for the 2009 Murano, I can't figure it out and seems like you have to completely remove the glovebox compartment to get to it.

I'd appreciate it for any help regarding this.

Default removing cabin filter

on altimas and pathfinders and xterras, you must open glove box and let it hang open. .. then you push the left side and right side IN...at the back area..
sounds confusing...

there are 2 plastic pieces that keep the glovebox from dumping all your stuff on the floor..... so place your hands as close to where the glove box is stopped by the non visible plastic pieces and push in on both outer sides. it will not break your glove box..... but remember when you are placing glove box back in place you dont want those plastic bumps to scratch your panel....
good luck

The 2009 is a little different. Remove the finisher on the right side of the center console. It is close to the firewall. You will see a door that comes off. The filter is behind that door.

Ask for a filter for a 2007 altima. It is the same filter and costs about $20.00 compared to about $60.00 for the murano filter.

Default 2009 Murano

I posted a question on this in another thread. Just found this one. I have attempted to remove the glove box and it did not work. Found this thread and am wondering about the "finisher". I am not sure what I am looking for as I spent a while under there and .....

Again, any help is appreciated.

I just changed mine. It's a pain but easy. Obviously the air filter location & housing was designed before the rest of the cabin was finshed. You have to rip out of the old filter and compress/shove the new one in. I was surprised at how dirty the filter was after just 15 months.

Thanks for the info and thread. Found the door. Asked the dealer how they could charge 90.00 for the work when, if you know where the door is, the change is easy. No audible answer.

I took the "finisher" off on my 2009 and did not see anywhere a filter could be.
Other than the pic showing the side panel, I can't relate to the two pictures showing the filter.
Are they rotated or showing a different angle or what?

Also, there seems to be a disagreement as to where the filter is, is it in he glove compartment area or in the console area?
Instructions for removing the glove compartment are equally confusing.

If I was a Dealer, I would give these hints, it would guarantee that you bring it to me.
