Default ABS Light - On - How to Read Codes

I have a 2001 Maxima with ABS on
I've read about how you can ground pin "8" on the OBDII port and get the codes but how do you know which is Pin number 8

in the Manual Knowledgebase - 2001 Maxima - Nissanhelp.com for Brake it says Pin "8" but has 9 marked on the diagram. I blew a couple of fused trying ..so I Really need to know is it Pin 8 you ground or 9 and where its located.

this pic is for reference, mine is mounted vertically.

or any other way to check/diagnose

The #9 is just for reference. Page BR-44 shows the connector diagram.

In other words, just to guide you.

The #8, is the one you need to use to retrive the ABS codes.

According to the figure and manual, it has to be "A", why nothing is happening? I'm not sure, it is possible that's the reason the ABS system warning light is ON in the first place. Did you checked the ABS fuses and fusible links?

The ABS light is not power by the ABS fuse. If there is not fuse or is blown, the ABS warning light will remain ON.

I grounded pin 9 to check the ABS codes on a 2001 Maxima. The ABS light flashed code 12 and then 35, over and over.

Page BR48 says to ground pin 8, while BR91 says to ground pin 9. The difference in the two sections is BR48 is w/o TCS while BR91 is with TCS. Based on the discussion in this thread and my testing, the pin to be grounded is pin 9.

Connect desired pin (8 or 9) and pin 5 which is "signal ground"
