Default 2005 Maxima

Hi everyone

I've had various problems with my 2005 Maxima but a new one just popped up. About 2 weeks ago my speedometer was intermittently failing. It would say I was going 0mph when I was traveling various speeds while driving. Sometimes it would go back to normal and then return to 0mph during driving. Now it seems to have completely failed as it never reads anything other than 0mph.

On top of that, I suppose naturally, the trip odometer isn't moving or the total odometer isn't reading anything either. It says I have had 50,790 miles on my car for the last week (I'm not sure if this is a positive thing or not)

What could be causing this? I called the dealer and all the service guy told me was I have to bring it in for 1 hour labor minimum to have it checked out. I figured this isn't a safety or mechanical issue so it's not urgent I get it looked at right away. Has anyone ever experienced this or know more about this? Any insight or feedback would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!
Mike

I had a secondary timing chain replaced under warranty - apparently it's fairly major work. That was done about 2 months ago. Do you think it could be related?
