Default Replace Crankshaft Position Sensor

Hello,

I have a 97 Nissan Maxima with Service Engine Soon light, when I took the car to Autozone for freen engine check they told me that the Crankshaft Position Censor needs to be replaced (Code P1335).

Can someone please tell me how to locate the Crankshaft Position Sensor to see if I can replace it on my own...also, if i do replace it will that remove the service engine soon light or it has been done in a different way.

thanks,
b

The sensor is located on the engine next to the transmission. (See Figure 1)

Note: The figures attached are from a different year, the location is the same but the sensor number is different.

it's mounted at the front of the engine, on the aluminum oil pan section below the crankshaft pulley

When I looked in the Engine Control 1997 Nissan Maxima posted here it shows the Crankshaft position sensor located on the left side of the engine with easy reach and view....

Default 02 Maxima Camshaft position sensor and crankshaft position sensor

I have an 02 Maxima that i was told needs to have the Camshaft position sensor and the crankshaft position sensor replaced. Can someone tell me were i can find a diagram on how to do this myself? Also were is the best place to buy these parts. Autozone wanted 69.99 for the Cam sensor and 49.00 for the crank sensor.

I just bought this car and need to fix it

I would go to dealer and make them check out the database if the recall replacement is already done on your car (there is a recall for both sensors). If not, they have to do it for free.
