Overheating at an idle
2002 Nissan Maxima GLE, 3.5. Starts to overheat when sitting at an idle with the A/C on. Generally when the outside temp is over 85.
Sometimes just driving around town the temp will rise, then come down. The thermostat has been changed, and the cooling fans are working. Could it be the water pump starting to fail? Is there any noise associated with that? Thanks for any suggestions as to what it could be. |

It could be a water pump problem. Sometimes it is hard to hear noise from the pump because it is behind the timing cover.

i would check for bugs in the radiator and condensor. i have seen lots of people overlook this and replace lots of parts and still over heat.
just clean it out with a water hose should be ok. i have seen it bad enough that the rad had to be removed to clean it good enough. |
