Default 2000 Maxima SE power seat won't recline

New here...so far I like what I see. I have a question that I hope you have an answer for. My 2000 Maxima SE driver's power seat won't recline. All functions work including the backrest moving forward but it will not recline. Unfortunately my seatback is positioned all the way forward at the moment and I can't drive it until I get that seat to recline. I tried downloading the electrical portion of the service manual to see if that would be helpful but it says that I've already used my download allowance (I haven't downloaded anything at all) so I'm stuck there. Has anyone had this problem? I'm not sure if it would be the motor or the switch or some other part but I'm assuming (which might be a mistake) that if the motor were faulty it wouldn't move in either direction. Please help. Thanks.

If it moves in one direction and not the other then I would start with the switch.

Thanks, hopefully it's just the switch...if it does turn out to be the swtch does anyone know where I can buy that so I dont have to trade an arm and a leg with the dealership? Also, is there a way I can get that seat to recline so I can at least drive the car again until I fix the seat problem? I'm thinking that if I can find a way to momentarily reverse the wiring to the motor I might luck out and be able to recline...that would be a big help. Thanks again.

This was in your Manual...if you need higher resolution pictures - let me know and I'll e-mail them to ya.

Hope this helps...

yes, thanks...that's extremely helpful. I'll see if I can work that out as soon as I get home today. If you wouldn't mind emailing those to me that would be great. I tried downloading the manual but was unsuccessful with firefox...I'll try IE later. thanks again for your help, it gives this place a good name.

Super! I sent you an e-mail (through NissanHelp.com) and provided my e-mail. When I get your e-mail, I'll attach the pages.

Well, it's the switch and I was also able to temporarily adjust the seat so I can drive it again. I unplugged the switch under the seat and made two little jumpers so I could connect the switch backwards without taking everything apart and it worked. The seat is back in a comfortable position and I unplugged the switch so it'll stay that way until I find a place to buy that part cheap. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. What a relief..
