P1610, P1615, P1147, P0139, intermittent no start...need help!
I've got a 2002 Maxima SE with 102,6XX Miles on it. The P1147 and P0139 codes are pretty obvious to me as being O2 Sensor related. However, the P1610 and P1615 codes and why my car didn't start for 2 days and now starts and runs beautifully, is confusing me! Further explanation on the no start....the car would crank and crank (potentially until the battery died and/or starter fried) but would never fire. It did this for two days and then I come outside this morning to try to start it and it fires right up and has been starting everytime I turn it off and back on. The CPS recall has been performed on it back in May of 2004.
So my main question is, why would I get those last two codes and how do I fix them, as well as, could they be somehow related to my no start condition? |

For more information about the O2 sensor here is a bulletin: 2000 – 2002 NISSAN MAXIMA; MIL "ON" WITH REAR O2 SENSOR DTC P0138/P0139/P0140/P0158/P0159/P0160/P1147/P1167
Now, the P1610 and P1615 codes are for the NATS System (Nissan Anti-Theft System). Sometimes if there is an interference with the key or the key is damage, it may cause the not start situation and it will set those codes. Here is a bulletin with more information about the NATS system: Service Bulletins Nissan Cars

I can't believe the same thing happened to me! I was about to rip everything apart, fuel pump, crank sensors, ecm, etc... I need to thank you for posting this and making me realize that I was trying to start the car w/ an old key that I haven't used in years. Amazing when I went to use the regular daily key that it sparked right up! The dealer wanted me to bring it in and charge me crazy money to diagnose, never did they mention try using another key, A-holes...
