Question 99 maxima headlight problem

Car was idling in park and right headlight exploded and left pieces of glass in headlight assmb and filled with smoke or gas, will I need new assmb

Maybe, maybe not. If the lamp, itself, is not broken, you may be able to vacuum out the pits of glass by duct taping a rubber hose to the end of a vacuum hose. If the pieces are large, then the lamp might have to be removed to empty out the glass.

Default 99 maxima headlight problem

Thanks for your reply,I will try vacuuming out pcs. What would cause bulb to burst is that common. Thanks

It's not that common. Usually it's caused by the hot bulb getting in contact with water, but, if there's no water in your lamp, it's likely not that. Make sure you don't touch the glass of the new bulb with your skin because the oils in your skin can shorten the life of the bulb if left on the glass.
