Default shift interlock solenoid

I need some instructions on how to remove the shifter on my 2001 SE so I can check/ replace the interlock solenoid. My Haynes manual dosn't cover my year and model. I have removed the console, burt I'm having difficulty with the shift knob and the indicator panel. I would really appreciate some help with this. Thanks!

Default shifter solenoid

I didn't have any replies but if you go to the knowledgebase- service manuals for the 2000 Maxima, the section on the automatic transmission has diagrams of the shifter and a test sequence for determining if the solenoid is the problem. The pictures and colours on the wiring diagram match my 2001 Maxima.
I'll be working on it tonight. I'm trying to get to the solenoid without completely removing the shifter knob.

I've replaced mine twice now. I checked if there was power down to the plug and there seemed to be so I went ahead and changed the solenoid again and it was the problem. Its a pain but you don't have to mess with the shifter to change it.
