87 Octane
In The Bahamas where i live we dont have premium gas, we only have 87 octane. How bad is this for my car since it requires premium? What is the alternative to getting premium gas?

In a long term is bad. You may try using fuel additives to boost the fuel octane, you can get the additives at any auto parts store.

In my 95 Maxima, Premium is preferred but not required. I have used 87 octane in my 95 since 42,000, it now has almost 280,000 on it. When tuned up properly with new plugs and all, it has all the pickup it has ever had. I have run premium through it on occasion and can't really tell a difference.

Agree with dcarlton: Bought Max at 130K miles, now have 208K miles, use nothing but 87 octane. Car still runs like a scalded dog when you punch it.
