2004 Maxima Alternator Change
Hi, I'm trying to change the alternator on my 2004 maxima and the Hayne's manual says to remove the four mount bolts on the air compressor to move it forward... i cant find four mount bolts on it but i can see about 5-8. How do i get this thing off? or do i even have to to remove the alternator.

The book for my 2007 maxima says: 1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. 2. Remove radiator. Refer CO-13, "Removal and Installation" . 3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to EM-13, "DRIVE BELTS" . 4. Remove idler pulley. 5. Remove the generator adjustable top mount, using power tools. 6. Remove the generator lower bolt and nut, using power tools. 7. Disconnect the generator harness connectors. 8. Remove the generator upper bolt, using power tools. 9. Remove the generator. I would assume the Haynes manual is saying that if you unbolt the compressor you can avoid removing the radiator.

I've already got the radiator and fan shroud removed it had me do that before the compressor, unfortunately on my vehicle there isnt enough room to even get a ratchet onto the lower mounting bolt without sliding the compressor forward.. but i cant figure out how to get the compressor off:(
