There is only one Cam Shat Position sensor on your 1997 Maxima, but I suggest to have the battery tested, since the Cam Shaft Position Sensor code can be triggered by a low battery charge or bad starter. Don't just replaced the sensor because there is a code.
BTW the bank 1 is on the right side of the engine next to the firewall.

Oh, awesome thanks! I did a lot of searching but i could only find the 3.5l and that has two, so i figured the 3.0 had 2 as well. I will def check out the battery and starter out. It seems to hold a charge well though as it always cranks strong sometimes even after like 10 min of trying. I also noticed today that the check engine light turned off. This happened once before too. The check engine light will turn off for a few days and then turn back on. I will also have that starter check, what should i be looking for with the starter?

Ok, so i replaced both sensors as i had already bought them. I got them on ebay for about $25 each. I installed them and the car does seem to idle and start better. I had the battery checked out when i got my oil changed, and the guy said the battery is fine. I have not had the check engine light come on or n e starting problems since the starters have been replaced. Lets hope this fixes it!
Another issue: I have this strange rubbing/ kinda grinding sound comming from the back of my car. It only happens when i am on the gas, and it typically only happens under 2k rpm. I am thinking the heat shield for the mufffler is loose and ratteling around. I tried to take it off, but it wont easily come off. I know i prob dont have the best description, but what are you views on the noise i am having? |
