Rattling noise in front when I start the car.
I have a 2005 maxima and I was wondering if anybody has experience a noise coming from the underneath of the car when it is started after setting for 15 minutes. After being started and driving for about 1-2 minutes it is gone. It sounds like a rattle/vibration of aluminum. Thanks for any help.

You may have a damage or bent exhaust bracket that is hitting the floor. You should also inspect the exhaust heat shields. If the noise is consistent, you should have no problem getting under your Maxima and locating the noise.

Check the heat shield on the y-pipe too. That thing is notorious for causing this noise.
*edit* Either the heat shield on the y-pipe or the header manifold under the engine... the heat shield gets loose and rattles just like you described. Last edited by oolatec; 05-05-2009 at 10:24 PM. |
