2004 Maxima SE Timing Chain(Belt)
I own a '04 Maxima SE with 110k miles, and I would like to know when I'm supposed to replace the timing chain or belt in terms of miles, and if it's a dealership item where I have to purchase from them.

Until a Specialist replies...I haven't been able to find a documented change date (someone will pipe in shortly if I'm wrong). I found one site recommending 200,000.

Not sure if this applies to 2000 models, but from what I read about 4th generation models, the timing chain was expected to last the lifetime of the vehicle and generally didn't fail or need replacing, of course, you mileage may vary.
I've got a 95 with 237,000 on it with the original timing chain, of course, now I've jinxed myself. I think I also remember, 4th generation again, that if you replace the water pump, you should replace the chain since you are there or vice versa since they are closely related to each other and while one is off, might as well do both so you don't have to do it again later.

I also have an 04 maxima. It has two timing chains in it, at about 125,000 miles I had to replace them because the tentioners went bad. I could hear the chains rattling inside the engine.
