Default 1994 PU running poorly

Hi all, i am a first time poster to this sight. I have a 4x4 V6 that runs poorly over 2500 rpm's. The problem is worse after it warms up but is intermittant. i have changed the pcv valve and it seemed to run better for a couple of days. What next?

Check for excessive play in the distributor shaft; the bearings on these distributors have been a bit prone to wear and failure when they get over 100,000 miles. Make sure the wires and plugs are in good shape and that the correct type, NGK spark plugs are installed. If you find Bosch platinums installed, take them out and throw them in the trash! Have you checked the ECM for stored trouble codes? Is there excessive varnish inside the throttle body and on the throttle plate? Have you replaced the fuel filter and/or confirmed the proper fuel pressure exists?

I ran a diagnostic and no codes are present. I have not checked fuel pressure with a gauge. I just made sure that it was pumping. I am ordering all new plugs, cap, and rotor. I checked for slop on the shaft....no play. The truck will run good for several hours then start to crap out over 2500 rpms. Thanks for your help.

On a '94, you should ABSOLUTELY check fuel pressure, AND PRESSURE LEAKDOWN TIME. It ain't hard at all - you just need a guage.

Vacuum plumbing / emissions lines (rubber) likely have cracks from age - does it lope idle after warming up?
