The thought that a tech would call and say that the brand of valve cover gasket could cause a miss is enough for me to go get it and forget about that dealer. I've never heard something so stupid!!!

Per the dealership, the truck is misfiring on 1, 3, & 5. It acts like a ground problem but they cannot find anything that isn't grounded. They changed the distributor and still have a misfire. They are guessing that it is the ECM or maybe the catalytic converter, but cannot guarantee that it will be either. They won't know if it is the ECM & won't know unless they change it. :( :( :(

Man that sucks, you could have thrown parts at it yourself for a lot less.

True. true. true.

I went to the same dealership that I had the diagnostics done to pick up my friend who was having service on her truck.

The service manager recognized me and asked me what I am going to do with my truck.

I said that I am either going to sell it or part it out.

The service manager was upset that I should say such a thing within ear shot of their other paying customers.

He said, "If you put a new motor in the truck, it would run fine."

I silently thought to myself, "funny, you didn't tell me that when you were charging me for diagnostics on my truck", then quickly responded to him:

"If the truck needs a new motor at 120,000 miles, I don't need the truck."

Then, I went back to work, got on ebay, and bought a REAL TRUCK. Pics:

The only remaining part I have to buy for this Frontier is a FOR SALE sign.

That's right.

$2500. Truck should be worth more, but it runs like crap. You get lots of new parts on the truck.
