2001 Frontier Sport Edition speaker replacement?
Wanting to replace speakers in our Frontier 2001 Sport edition truck. Appears there is one larger and 1 tweeter in each door in the front. Do not see any back speakers. Any advice on what to look for- have sent for 2 different ones and have had to send them back.... no one seems to be able to help when i call either. Any advice is much appreciated.

Hands-on here. I have replaced the speakers in a 1998 regular cab, a 2004 King Cab, and a 1998 4-door Pathfinder. In Arizona the flexible part just deteriorated from time and heat.
Nissan used proprietary speakers mounts and electrical connections for these. I checked, Nissan factory speakers are expensive and special order, not great quality, but do install easier. I used 6.5-inch aftermarket speakers for all. On the 1998 Frontier, a little plastic nub on the door mount had to be cut off as that fit into a recess on the factory speaker, preventing aftermarket ones to be used if this was left there or unless a hole was drilled in the speaker frame for it to fit in. Also, I soldered the connectors for the new speakers onto the Nissan wires, covered by shrink wrap. On the 2004, I simply drilled new holes in the door frame and screwed in the new speakers. I did as above with the speaker wires. I just replaced the speakers again on the '98 Frontier (it had been a dozen years) with aftermarket, and my modifications back then made installation of those a breeze. These were Scoshe speakers in stock at WalMart, rated well. Biggest concern is to check and make sure that the replacement speakers are not deep enough to interfere with window operation. |
