Default P1706 code

1997 Truck - continually set a P1706 trouble code - It's a 5 speed 4wd. Can anyone give me a diagnostic charts for this. I know it's the Park Nuetral Circuit BUT It's NOT an automatic. But it says Transmission out of range.

Any help would be appreciated - Thanks

The manual transmission also have neutral switch. You should start by inspecting the switch connector.

I have a Pathfinder 98 with this code P1706 too. The problem with mine was found to be the license plate light bulb and rear overhead light bulb burned out(Note:Park/Neutral position Switch controlls the backup lights which shares same wires with all your rear light bulbs). After replaced those two bulbs the codes went away.
