Just bought a low mile '03 Xterra SE S/C. When I'm driving at night with the headlights in the low beam position, oncoming cars constantly flash their brights at me as if I have mine on. When I switch to my highbeams (indicator comes on) they stop flashing me. To me, it appears the lights are working normally. Could it be an aiming issue? Is there a way that the switch could be reversed?

Any insights?

Thanks!

Hey guys, I have been reading quite a few posts on power valve rattles in the '05 & '06 pathfinders and xterras. Have there been any instances of this occurrence in the 2002 super charged engine. Have this rattling from the engine, under a load. Yes, i have been using 91 octane, and no it doesnt appear to be knocking sounds. My mechanic cant figure out the noise either.
Secondly, can someone please point me in the direction of finding the instructions for relocating the knock sensor. I have heard it is quite common, just cant find the links. Any help in either of these would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

Hi all,

Brand new to the forum, what a wealth of information and a great community!

I Bought an 07 Xterra S (actually I'm not 100% certain it is an S, but all signs point to it) used back in June. The radio that came with it was an aftermarket one, that frankly I'm afraid is going to attract too many people, and puts my car at risk of being broken into.

I'm looking at OEM radios, used, and see there is the standard CD player radio, and the 6 CD changer radio. I'd like to put the 6 CD changer because its a CD changer, but also it appears the 6 CD changer radio comes with an optional AUX input somewhere on the unit (probably have to run a cable from the back, I assume).

QUESTION: Can I put in the 6 CD radio into an S trim level? Any problems I'll run into? It shows on the Nissan website that the brand New S trim doesn't have the option to go to a 6 CD changer, however I understand the radio is slightly different from the 07 model year.

2006 Xterra Rear Wheel Bearing Problems???

I wanted to you get someone's opinions on this problem I am having. I am getting a humming noise in the xterra when I hit speeds around 55-65, once you go over 65 the noise disappears. Also when you let off of the gas the noise disappears. The noise doesn't seem to be getting worse but I think it needs to addressed.

At first I didn't think much about it since a lot of the driving I do is not on the highway and you really do not notice until you are on the highway. The more I have been thinking about this I thought this could be a bad wheel bearing...I had a similar thing happen in my Ford Focus but luckily was covered in a recall. The truck only has 62,000 but who knows anymore with the way cars are these days.

What do you guys think? Anyone experience this?

How difficult is this to do yourself or what do you think this type of service would cost at the dealership? Your input is greatly appreciated!

I took it, the 2001 nissan xterra 3.3L V6, to auto zone as soon as the engine service light came on and asked for the free diagnostic and instantly got some trouble codes. The codes as follow are p1126 and p0325. P1126 has some reference to a open, failed or short circuit to the throttle control motor relay. P0325 also lists that the knock sensor circuit is open, short, or failed. If anyone can offer their expertise and assit me in this delima it would be very helpful, and also at the same time offer some assistance that will benefit me for future complications.

I have a 2007 Nissan Xterra X 4x4 manual transmission with 21,000 miles.

About 15,000 miles ago I started noticing a rattling noise whenever I accellerate. It started out very quiet and minor, but has been getting worse since to the point where I'm considering trading the vehicle in before it is out of warranty. It happens most in 3rd or 4th gear, when the vehicle is warmed up, and sounds like a tin can with marbles in it getting shaken up. It sounds like it is coming from under the hood (as opposed to the exhaust). It starts at about 3000 rpm and stops as soon as I shift. I have noted it happens more frequently while or after I have been using the A/C.

I took it into the dealership three times about this. The first time (at about 6,000 miles) they told me to use premium fuel ... that didn't help. The 2nd time (at around 10,000 miles) they told me that they could not replicate it and that I must be imagining it (no joke). The 3rd time (at around 20,000 miles after the noise kept getting louder) again they told me that they could not replicate it. As I said, the vehicle needs to be warmed up before you start hearing the rattle, so it isn't until after driving 5 or 6 miles, or until I'm on a highway where I can accelerate in 3rd or 4th gear when I hear it. Believe me, it is a nasty sound that makes me very concerned ... like something is on the verge of just totally breaking and doing some damage.

Has anyone else had this problem? I have searched the forums and internet and have not found anything exactly like this. Any ideas of what it could be? Should I go into the dealership again and demand they give this more attention? Or should I just go take a bath on a trade in for a nice Army Green FJ Cruiser? I love the Xterra but not when it sounds like a piece of junk.

2010 Xterra, S/SE Model Aftermarket Audio Options

I am the new (and mostly happy) owner of a 2010 Xterra. I love the look, feel and ride of the thing, but I have discovered that I should probably have gone for a more expensive version because the existing stereo does not meet my needs and I had (mistakenly) assumed that the dealer could upgrade it to the Rockford Fosgate system (they can't). So here's my dilemma: I need XM Satellite Radio and an aux (or iPod) port. Nissan can't install the factory Rockford Fosgate system (I presume because it's a FACTORY option and not a DEALER option). My question for this forum is: Does anyone know of or can you recommend a good quality aftermarket in-dash single or multi-CD player, AM/FM/XM stereo with either an aux or iPod port? If you're in my area and can recommend a skilled and honest installer that'd be great too.

Thanks!

I believe it was fuel temp or something. Anyone ever had this problem. It has a 114k on it and the original pump was working fine, but I got a deal on a new factory pump, so I decided to replace it. Any help is greatly appreciated.
