hi all!
i am trying to find out if anyone knows what other models brakes will work on a 2000 gxe. i need (used) calipers (and a rotor), because the car has 220,000 miles on it, and i just want to keep it going for now. i know where there are plenty of altimas, (which look exactly alike) but for some reason the sentras don't make it to this junkyard. i don't want to waste money on trying the altimas, only to find out something is different. if anyone can help me with what brakes will work, i am forever grateful!

Hey all.I have a 2002 sentra 4cyl 5 spd. The car has 145000 miles and runs great. I have for about 2 wks had these strange problems. When the car runs its great, but 4 times now the car wont start and acts as if it has no battery. Ill pull into a parking spot and turn off, then try to restart and get nothing. A few attempts later it will start but all the radio memory is gone. When it doesnt start it has absolutely no power. There is a slight smell in the cab sometimes like something is burning also. I used to have a 93 talon and a cap in the computer went bad and it smelled in the cab also. I am thinking maybe the ecm needs replaced but not sure. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

I want to replace my rusted oil pan on my 2004 1.8 manual transmission Sentra. I know how to replace it but i am really blocked by the exhaust front pipe. The studs and bolts holding it are now really thin and breakable. I know if i use a wrench or ratchet everything is going to break apart...

I want to know how to disconnect the front pipe from the exhaust manifold please! I am quite good at general mechanic stuff but this is a first for me (exhaust front pipe removal).
Any useful link on techniques, tools, will be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much!

hi all!
i attempted to do the front pads on a 2000 sentra gxe, and it's easy enough to work on. i have some important questions, tho, (i've done too many disc pad r and r's to count) the last person to work on it failed to put in the pad return springs, and i have no clue how nissan expects them to go back in! also, i assume the caliper is supposed to be a sliding/floating type? this one doesn't move AT ALL! i will be getting some used calipers from my local junkyard that do slide, (i hope) because the car has 219,000 miles on it, and i just need to keep it going for now. does anyone know if other years/makes will fit this GXE? the altimas look exactly the same, but i didn't measure anything. ANY cross-references will be greatly appreciated, because the yard i deal with didn't have any newer (2000-up) sentras. also, while i was there, NONE of the brakes i looked at had return springs (that i could see) THANKS TO ALL WHO HELP!!

Hi,
I am having P0171 code on my nissan since last 1 month. I erased it thrice but came back after about 20miles of driving. The current symptom is that the car has loss of power & hiccups at startup and once the engine is warm( after 5-10 mins), It runs perfectly fine. I did notice that it is running at a little higher rpm. I do need to mention here that 2 months back.. the engine light was on due to another code so the MAF was replaced. Then after 2wks.. i had P0171 & P0174 but P0174 went away after i did a couple of Gasoline Fuel Injector treatments. Now i have only P0171.

Below is the freeze frame data using OBD scanner i got from sears:
Fuel System 2 Status: Closed Loop
Calculated LOAD Value :43.14 %
Engine Coolant Temp : 172.40 °F
Short Term Fuel Trim - Bank 1 : 13.28%
Long Term Fuel Trim - Bank 1 : 38.28 %
Short Term Fuel Trim - Bank 2 : 12.50 %
Long Term Fuel Trim - Bank 2 : 38.28 %
Engine RPM : 1,850.00 rpm
Vehicle Speed Sensor : 32.31 mph

Does the Fuel Trim ratios of bank1/2 point to any specific problem?
Any help will be highly appreciated:

I think it maybe the timing chain? or the tensioner on the timing chain? How would i check?

Hey guys, just did the pedal dance to figure out what codes my car was throwing at me, and these are what I got.

0031- Front O2 Sensor Bank 1, Circuit Low
0138- Rear O2 sensor Bank 1, Circuit High voltage
0037- Rear O2 Sensor Bank 1, Circuit Low
0455- Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Control System, Gross Leak
1448- EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve Open

Could anyone tell me what these mean/how I can fix them?

The car has aftermarket headers and exhaust system. It has an O2 sensor in the header, But i dont think it has a second one installed, haven't had a chance to check underneath yet. And what about the EVAP system?

Thanks alot
