I recently changed my right fog light on my 06 Murano. While I am glad a DIY procedure for this has been posted I think the instructions are a bit too vague for the job. If I had followed the instructions "to the letter" I would not have been able to access the back of the fog light housing. The reason being is that the washer fluid tank completely blocks easy access on the right-side fog light. Here's the steps I used:

1) Turn wheels hard over to whatever gives you the best access (i.e. hard left if you are working on the right fog light)

2) Unscrew enough of the fender liner that you can push it aside; no need to completely remove it. It's thin plastic and bends easily.

3) Reach over the washer fluid tank, undo the 10mm bolt holding the fog light housing to it's mount. I used a 10mm socket connected to a short extension on a stubby ratchet. This has to be done by feel, there is no way to see the bolt head. Also note you cannot access anything from the bottom.

4) CAREFULLY pop out the bezel/trim piece from the front. I wasn't careful and snapped one of the tangs off, oops. There are four tangs.

5) Pull the entire fog light assembly out from the front bumper, disconnect the plug, change it, then reassemble. I suggest using anti-sieze on the 10mm bolt when you reassemble, mine was a bit of a bear to break loose and I was worried about snapping it off - it will go much better next time.

Total time was about 20 minutes. Given that the left fog light doesn't have anything immediately in behind it I think it would be a much easier and quicker fix; you may not have to remove the fog light from the bumper.

Good luck!

Daryl

Default 2003-2007 Nissan Murano Front Fog Lamp Bulb Replacement Procedure

It's actually much easier than in Daryl's post above. No need to remove the foglight housing at all. The entire procedure can be done from the backside. You do need to remove (or undo) the fenderwell liner as above. On the driver's side, no additional work is necessary, as the back of the foglight housing is easily visible and accessible. The bulb is removed by rotating the socket counterclockwise, releasing it from the housing. Simply replace the bulb and replace the socket by inserting it in the correct position (it has "notches" that allow it to fit only one way) and securing it in place with a clockwise turn. Done. The passenger's side is a little more complicated in that the fiberglass/plastic piece underneath the foglight needs to be removed also (this is done by removing 3-4 screws). Now the back of the foglight housing is accessible, although it does require a little more effort (than on the driver's side) to remove the light socket due to the presence of the water bottle located there. Again, only a counterclockwise turn is required to remove the socket, and a clockwise turn to replace the socket. Remember not to touch the glass of the new bulb with your fingers, as the presence of skin oils on the glass will cause "hot spots" on the glass and greatly diminish the lifespan of the new bulb (it is a good idea to clean the glass of the new bulb with alcohol and a clean paper towel or cloth). This is a relatively easy job, and much less expensive than taking it to a dealer.
