You can put any exhaust you want on without voiding the warranty. The only part that would be void would be the exhaust.

You have to be careful what you put on your vehicles, even if it IS a Nismo part made by Nissan!!! There are 2 different types of Nismo parts, R-tune and S-tune!! R-tune is for RACE ONLY and WILL void your warranty IF the tech deems the Nismo part is responsible for the failure!! S-tune parts are STREET viable and WILL NOT void your warranty!! here is the EXACT wording from Nissan:

S-tune components are engineered for the Nissan enthusiast who drives uses their machine on the street—about 80% of the sport/compact tuner market. S-tune components offer credible increases in vehicle dynamics (horsepower, handling, etc.), but with an additional feature that the aftermarket can’t match. Each S-tune component comes fully warranted from Nissan–up to 36 months/36,000 miles—if installed at time of new-vehicle sale (like any other Genuine Nissan part or accessory).

R-tune parts are designed for the hard-core enthusiast or weekend racer. Street “civility” is compromised for maximum performance. Obviously, parts destined for racing or track days do not carry a warranty.

All Cat Back Systems from Nismo are S-tune products!!
I hope this clears up some things!!

The Magnuson Moss law protects consumers from manufacturers voiding warranties. See the following link for details.

That is for "Third Party Accessories", meaning accessories that are not bought from Nissan and as these are made and bought directly from Nissan, Nissan has the right to void the warrant on these parts!! Like I said, if you install a Nismo Header on your car that is an R-tune(made for RACE purposes only) product and your engine blows due to a faulty camshaft or crankshaft bearing, they cannot void your warranty simply because you have the header installed!! Now, if your engine is damaged because the Header is faulty, then that CAN void your warranty. If your check engine light comes on because the cat in the header is not doing a sufficient job, that is also NOT covered because the header has no warranties of any kind!! Since Nissan has made the part and the rules, they can pretty much do what they want!!
I hope this clears up some things!!

Accessories bought from Nissan DO NOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY. It doesn't matter if they are S tune or R tune. The R tune accessories do not have a warranty on the particular part but they do not void any part of the warranty on the car.
Third party accessories also do not void your warranty. If Nissan can prove a failure is caused by an aftermarket accessory they do have the option to not cover the related repair but they cannot void the warranty. Basically the only thing that can completely void your warranty is if you total your car in an accident and the insurance company claims it as a total loss and you buy it back and repair it.

You put it better then I did, thats what I meant!! I guess I wasn't clear on what I meant about "Voiding" a warranty. I just meant the particular repair, NOT the warranty as a whole!!

Basically just use common sense with aftermarket accessories. I have seen many cars with electrical problems caused by aftermarket electronics installed and I have also seen many that have never had any issues. Don't always go to the cheapest installer. There is probably a reason they are cheaper. There are several shops around that do an excellent job with these installs and the installers are very well educated in the cars and the products they install.
