ATF options for 08 Altima Hybrid
I want to put the thinnest, lowest viscosity ATF as possible in my 08 Altima Hybrid. What is the best choice that is "Nissan Approved" or that a Nissan dealer would install, at least?
I think the manual lists "Dexron VI" as an alternative. Is this a lower viscosity ATF than the stock Nissan blend? Also, looks like there are multiple brands of Dexron VI ATF. Any differences? I think I read that the SuperTech Dexron VI is available at Walmart... One last point -- Just called my dealer and they insisted that only the Nissan CVT ATF is allowed, despite what the manual says. Is my dealer incorrect? Thanks! Eph Last edited by cephraim; 09-24-2008 at 08:26 AM. |

For warranty repair, the dealer has to use the Nissan fluid. For customer service you don’t have to use the factory fluid, but it’s highly recommended
I personally don’t recommend changing the fluid or mixing it with another brand

I would definately stick with the factory fluid. Nissan calls it matic w. You might want to try calling a toyota dealer and ask them what they would reccommend. The trans. in the altima hybrid is a toyota trans.
