Question 2005 altima 2.5

Just purchased a 2005 altima 2.5. Whenever i start the car in the morning it races up to between 2200- 2500 rpm then goes down to what i would consider a normal cold idle of 1200-1500 till it warms up then the idle is normal at 700-750 rpm. I'm worried abut the high idle and want to know if its normal

Run your ride up to your local autocenter (i.e., AutoZone, etc.) and see if you have any stored codes.

Default idle

Someone has played with the idle. It needs to be adjusted. Go directly to nissan to have it adjusted properly.

good luck and let me know how it pans out.

The idle can be adjusted with the nissan scan tool, however there is no reason to do this. It usually causes additional problems after it has been done. You should have a dealer check the idle setting and have them set it back to the base setting. Then have them relearn the idle air volume. That should take care of the problem.

My 2006 2.5 38,000 miles Starts exactly the same as Stated above. 2200-2500 rpm then it drops to 1600-1700 rpm, then after warm 700-750. I did buy it used so I don't know it's past. I have no codes! And the car runs prefect!

Will the Learning Procedure correct this initial Idle problem? Sorry I didn't read the last post!

^^i think u are alright cause your engine is trying to crank and is trying to achieve the driving temp so it would idle high for a lil and then drop to your normal rpm range

If you think the idle is alittle on the high side take it in and have them preform the "idle air/volume learn proceedure preformed. And yes you can return the idle back to factory settings if in fact it has been change by using a nissan consult scan tool.

Yesterday I did the Learning Proceedure for Accelerator and Throttle. It took one try and this morning where my "cold start RPM" was 2200-2500 it is now approx 1900 . And my "hot idle RPM" was approx 750 it is now 650rpm.

The good thing is now I don't hear the engine's valve's etc rattling from no oil at cold startup.
