PCV
I have a 1998 Altima and it seems to have alot of crankcase pressure when I remove the valve cover fill cap at idle. Where is the PCV?
Thanks Mike |

If it is anything like my 1995 2.4, it is under the intake manifold. I have tried to get to it with no results. My local dealer won't replace it because of the cost involved. I too have some leaks along with oil in the distributor. It is a common problem.

I pulled this from your Service Manual Section EC - ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM.
Hope this helps...

It's located right under the intake. I believe book time shows something like 4 hours to replace, but it's not that hard. It can be removed it less than an hour. You just have to get to it from underneath the vehicle, and reach up.

1998 Altima PCV
I found it with a little help from the dealers parts dept - worth the $10. It is under the intake on the passenger side just above the Power Steering Pump. Was difficult to replace but not more than an hour - definitely not your fathers Buick. There is a bracket which supports the the intake back to the block which once removed provided enough access. I removed the PCV from the motor grommet by prying with a long screwdriver 12in. Once removed from the motor it was easier to get at the clamp by flexing the rubber hose. The long screwdrive is key.
